Friendly Reminders & Updates
- Seven Sacred Teachings – The teaching for January is Sabe - Honesty
- Family Day Monday Feb 16 - Reminder that this is a non-instructional day, and there is no school for students.
- Grade K-3 Targeted Intervention System Suports -Based on our literacy screening data, Cecil Swanson is identified as a Tier 3 intervention school. This means that we receive additional CBE System Intervention Learning Leader (SILL) support for literacy. Ms. Handlesman, our assigned SILL, will be joining us again between March and May to provide additional supports to our K-3 students. The focus is on Grade 1 literacy skills, through targeted small group supports, as well as universal classroom strategies. Ms. Handlesman also provides relief time to our Intervention Lead Teacher, Ms. Mui, who will be working again to support Grades 2 and 3 students and teachers with some short intervention blocks each day. We are excited to analyze our most recent January screener data to track areas of improvement, and areas for further attention. We saw great success with our intervention strategies last year!
- School Council – Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10 at 6:00pm. We are in urgent need of parent volunteer support for our Spring Casino which brings us over $70,000. We are at risk of losing our Casino. Please email Mr. Whitton at kmwhitton@cbe.ab.ca if you can help as part of the committee or volunteer!
