Friendly Reminders & Updates
- Seven Sacred Teachings – The last of our seven sacred teachings for May/June is Truth (Turtle)
- School Council/Casino Update
- Our next School Council/Society Meeting is scheduled for September. Thanks to our council for supporting field trips, Grade 6 farewell, technology, robotics, art supplies, PE supplies, and more!
- Homerooms/Class Placement for next year - we are not able to take specific requests for homeroom placements, specific teachers, or specific peer groupings for several reasons:
- We are currently in the spring staffing processes, and will not have our staff fully finalized until after the summer. We are adding three additional teacher positions which are yet to be staffed. We will be wishing several staff members a happy retirement (to be announced soon!), and several staff members taking a year maternity or general leave.
- Our teachers work in collaborative teams, and group and regroup students across the grade grouping, so they will be working with all the teachers on the grade team. We also frequently work in shared teaching spaces.
- Requests to pair with/away from specific peers can be challenging, as we may receive contradictory requests from different families.
- If you have specific considerations for learning you would like us to be aware of, please email Mr. Whitton prior to the end of June. Teachers do ensure that students are supported during transitions, and we work to create student groupings that are most successful for learning and well-being.
- We will have an open house prior to the first day of school so that students can meet their teachers, and visit their classroom spaces. Please check our Back to School page in the coming weeks/months for more information on the first days of school.

- Thursday, June 18 - Grade 6 PAT Math Part B
- Friday, June 19 - Activity Day - Format TBD
- Sunday June 21 - National Indigenous Peoples' Day (Recognized at Cecil Swanson on Mon June 22)
- Thursday, June 25 - Grade 6 Farewell (1:00pm). Report cards viewable online today.
- Friday, June 26 - Early Dismissal Day. Last day of school Family pancake breakfast at 7:45am
- Monday/Tuesday June 29, 30 - Non instructional days - no school for students.
