Student Voice Club Updates

Friendly Reminders & Updates
- School Council - Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 19 at 6:00pm. Please join us! Meeting minutes and Principal Reports are found on the School Council Page of our Website.
- This month’s meeting includes teacher presentations from Ms. Sharma (Gr 2), Mys. Sehn (Gr 6), and Ms. Kerr (Bridges Program)
- Grades 3-6 Intramurals – Thanks to Ms. Thompson (PE) and volunteer teachers. Grades 3-6 students will have the opportunity to sign up for badminton over the lunch hour the next several weeks. Please reach out to Ms. Thompson or your child’s teacher if you need more information.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences Nov 28 & 29 – We will offer a choice of online or in-person conferences. Please check your email and the school website next week for further instructions on how to sign up through MyCBE for your conference. It is our goal to meet with 100% of families to update you on the wonderful work your students are doing, and to answer any questions you have!
- Save the Date – Winter Art Night – Please plan to join us for a community evening on Thursday, December 12 between 6:00 and 7:30pm for our Winter Art Night. This evening will have a similar format to last year. Check your email for upcoming details coming soon!
- Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week Nov 18-22 – Did you know all CBE schools work to support Safe and Caring learning environments? You can visit the CBE website page on School Culture and Environment for more information on CBE-wide strategies, as well as information on how families can support bullying awareness and prevention both at home and school. At Cecil Swanson, we support these initiatives through various learning experiences related to the Three Pillars of Care. We also learn about different types of bullying, such as those outlined in the Alberta Education guide for educators. A particular focus this fall has been learning the difference between bullying and conflict, the and the importance of communicating concerns with teachers who will support students resolving conflict or addressing bullying concerns. Thank you parents for your continued support in these areas! Please know you can reach out to your child’s teacher at any time for support.
