Friendly Reminders & Updates

  • School Council – Our Annual General Meeting is on Tuesday October 22 at Cecil Swanson. We have moved the meeting to 6:00pm hoping more families can attend. We will name/vote on new members of our executive council at this meeting (e.g. Chair, Secretary). Please join us! Meeting minutes and Principal Reports are found on the School Council Page of our Website.
  • OurSchool Student Survey – Grades 4-6 have completed the OurSchool Survey. Staff will be reviewing responses as part of our School Development Plan process. Thanks to students for sharing your input on how to make Cecil Swanson an even better place to learn!
  • Student Support Update  – Families, we would appreciate your support to reinforce a common conversation our teachers are having with their classrooms this week. We have noticed many caring, well-meaning students are wanting to ensure other students are safe and following the rules of the school. Please help us reinforce that it is best for students to seek adult help if they feel their peers are not following rules or are having a conflict, rather than intervening on their own. This helps make sure that the staff are aware of students who need support, and can prevent misunderstandings between the students. There are times when students are able to solve minor day-to-day issues independently, however we know that it is a learning process for students in terms of the size of the problem that can be handled without teacher support, so we want to be sure adults are involved as much as possible. There are always adults present in class, at recess, or at lunch, and students are encouraged to ask any of them for assistance at any time.
