Friendly Reminders & Updates

  • Seven Sacred Teachings – We are again learning about the Seven Sacred Teachings this year! Each month will have a different teaching to focus on. The teaching for September is Respect - Buffalo
  • Reminder that Monday September 7 there is no school due to Labour Day long weekend.
  • Outdoor Clothing Reminder - Please dress for the weather! We had some rain this week. We do go outside in light rain, so please bring a coat and good shoes each day. Umbrellas are allowed but it is hard to play when holding the umbrella, so a rain coat is a better choice.
  • Breakfast Club and Brown Bag Lunch - Did you know our school has a breakfast club from 7:40-7:55am? We also are supported by the Brown Bag Lunch program. This is funded by donation for any student in need of a healthy breakfast or lunch. Please contact the school if your child needs to be added to the list for Brown Bag program. Breakfast club is drop-in.
  • Digital Agendas and Teacher Weekly Updates - Please check your email for the Weekly Update Schoolmessenger from your child's grade team teachers. Grade teams are also opening their Google Classrooms next week. This is where you can find the daily online agenda message. Parents can access the Google Classroom. Look for instructions in an upcoming weekly update schoolmessenger from your teachers.
  • Early Dismissal Fridays - remember that school ends at 12:10pm for all students on Fridays. Kindergarten families, please be sure to check the calendar so you know which Fridays your kindergarten child attends.
  • Office Hours - Please note that our office closes at 3:30pm Mon-Thurs, and at 1:00pm Fridays. Our office is not open on non-instructional PD days.
  • School Council
    • Our next school council/parent society meeting is Monday September 21, 2026 at 6:00pm in the Learning Commons.
    • All parents are members of our School Council. We invite you to join us at council meetings to see Teacher Presentations, hear updates on teaching and learning at Cecil Swanson, and provide your input into making Cecil Swanson the best possible place to learn! We also plan and support fundraising and school spirit events.
    • We are in need of volunteers on our Council Executive. Our treasurer has moved on, and this is a critical role. Please let us know if you are interested in supporting!
